Cast Steel Knife Gate Valve

Product Description
The XDV knife gate valve is designed for general industrial service applications. The design of the body and seat assures non-clogging shutoff on suspended solids in industries such as:

Pulp and Paper & Power plants & wastewater treatment plants & Chemical plants & Food and Beverage & Buk handling Mining

knife gate valve manufactured by XDV is Bi-directional Designed (optional) sealing in both flow directions, with integrated scraper system and free flow passage.

XDV Knife Gate valve is built with a cast body and features a heavy-duty stainless steel blade. Removable seats on either side of the gate provide a bi-directional bubble tight seal, with no metal parts in contact with the slurry.

Valve installation

Inspect the valve and identify the seat side. The word "SEAT" is marked on the valve body in the chest area on the seat side. Install the valve in the line with the seat side downstream or making sure the flow and pressure is in the direction tending to push the gate against the seat when closed.

If the valve is a double seated, bi-directional valve the valve can be installed in either orientation.

Use a gasket material suitable for the pressure, temperature, and media and cut to fit raised face of the valve. If the valve is supplied with a non-metallic "RP, RT" replaceable seal, no gasket should be used on the replaceable seal side.

Bolt the valve to the mating flange using proper size bolts. If stainless bolts are used, lubricate threads to prevent galling.

It is recommended that studs be used in the tapped holes in the chest area. If bolts are used select length that will not cause bolt to bottom out in flange hole before sealing gasket.

When tightening flange bolts work from side to side to ensure even compression of the gasket. The amount of torque required is determined by the type of gasket, line pressure, type of bolt and bolt lubrication.

Maintenance

The valve must not undergo any modifications without a previous agreement with XDV. XDV shall not be liable for any damages that may arise due to the use of non original parts or components.

BONNET PACKING REPLACEMENT
  1. Relieve the line pressure.
  2. Fully close the valve.
  3. Ensure the line is empty, and flush if necessary.
Procedure

1. Remove the bonnet gland fasteners (10) and the gland (9).

2. Remove the old bonnet gland packing (8) from the packing chamber, one layer at a time, using a long thin tool to pry it out.

3. If the lowest layer is a wiper ring (copper, Inconel etc.), clean it with a common solvent; if damaged, replace with a new one.

4. Insert the new packing (8) one at a time, stagger the cut end of the packing so that they do not line up.

5. Tap each packing ring firmly and evenly into the chamber before installing the next ring; the ends of each ring should meet but not overlap.

6. Install the bonnet gland (9) and the gland fasteners (10).

7. Tighten the gland nuts (10) finger tight plus half turn.

NOTICE

If leakage is observed from the packing area after installing the valve in the pipeline and the valve is pressurized or charged with media, tighten the gland nuts evenly, side to side, just enough to stop leakage. Do not overtighten the gland nuts.

Valve Seat & Valve Packing Replacement

Remove the actuator assembly / Hand wheel assembly and bonnet from the valve. Refer appropriate basic IOM for seat replacement and valve packing replacement.

Bonnet purge

Valves are provided with 2 nos purge plugs (7) of ½” or 1” NPT on the bonnet for flushing. Remove any one of the purge plugs and connect ½” or 1” pipe. Periodic flushing through these ports are recommended to remove any sediment inside the bonnet
